Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) Abia State has been given full approval by The National University Commission, NUC to commence 15 new programmes following a successful visitation by experts from the commission.
The approval was conveyed to the university in a letter by NUC after a meticulous resource evaluation during their visitation to the school.
The university which is located in Amaokwe Achara, Isuikwato local government area recently bagged the Igbere TV “Best Private University in Nigeria 2019 award” following its outstanding performance in the academic world.
The newly approved programmes include; Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Guidance and Counseling, Business Education, Physical and Health Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health Science, Radiography and Radiation Science, Optometry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Architecture
The programmes are to be offered in both the Collage of Education, Health Science, and Environmental Science at the Bachelor Level.
In an interview with Communicator News about the new developments in the school, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the prestigious institution Prof. Evaristus O. Anyaehie said the approval was granted seeing that the programmes met the demands of NUC and that the institution is equipped in terms of human resources, materials and quality.
He further stated that the programmes were also initiated and fully equipped to meet the demand of scholars in the country to avoid craving for few highly demanded courses including; Medicine and Surgery, Law, and Engineering among others.
He, however, urged parents and guardians desirous of giving high quality tertiary education in a serene environment and at an affordable cost to consider sending their wards to the university as admission for the 2019/2020 academic session is still open.
