Tambuwal buries, after a fresh attack by bandits in Sokoto
There was a tense atmosphere in Sokoto as gunmen suspected to be bandits recently stormed the eastern part of the state, leaving about 18 persons killed and several others injured in a dastardize attack.
The attack occured in villages across Rabah Local Government Area of the state. The bandits were said to have raided the villages at about 5pm on Saturday and carted away with hundreds of cows, sheeps and other valuables as they enguage in an indiscriminate shooting.
As at the time of filing this report, all effort reaching the Sokoto Police Command spokesperson, DSP Sadik Abubakar to confirm the occurrence was proved abortive.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the council chairman with a team of joint security operatives have been to Rakumni, Tsage and Kalgo for rescue operation. Meanwhile, They are also said to be assembling the corpses for burial.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal who attended the funeral on Sunday together with heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and government officials later condoled the families of the victims after the burial held at Gandi town.
A similar deadly attack could be recalled to have happened last year in thesame local government leaving several people killed and displaced in 8 villages.
Governor Tambuwal however, assured that all effort will be made to put an end to "such uncivilized and barbaric attacks” which the state have been experiencing and urges the community members to assist security agencies with useful information to track the bandits.
